Beaver Barracks
Non-profit Housing

description

This major affordable housing development in downtown Ottawa introduces 254 units of affordable housing over two phases, incorporating retail space, a community garden and a paramedic base station on the site.

The project was developed with a focus on sustainability; it uses approx. 40% less energy than similar social housing buildings in the region. High performance envelopes, thermally broken balcony slabs, high efficiency lighting and appliances and green roof technology are among the many sustainable initiatives within the program. A geothermal system provides affordable low-carbon energy to the entire complex.
